AN APPEAL TO STUDENTS ON COVID-19 GUIDELINES UPON SCHOOL RESUMPTION
After a combined meeting of the five SUG PRESIDENTS and some NANS Executives in Edo State with the State government earlier today at the state house in Benin city as regards the re-opening of schools, it was resolved that the government is ready and willing to review the February 1st re-opening of schools unless the various institutions establish the relevant equipments needed to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The SUG President of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Comrade Charles Ilukhor ( a.ka TRIBUNAL) assured the government that the institution has all the necessary requirements needed to combat the spread of the virus in the institution. He also reiterated during the meeting that, during the first wave of the pandemic, the institution recorded zero case of victims of coronavirus owing to the institution proactive measures that were put to effect.
President Tribunal also affirmed that the institution has also increased more on its capacity to stem the tide of the virus.
In this regards, the President and other executives of the union will on Thursday February 21, 2021, meet with all class reps, Departmental Presidents, schools presidents to discuss on the operational modalities that will guide the students upon resumption. As we look to ensure total compliance on the part of students to these measures if we must resume on or before proposed review date.
The President also appeal to students to bear with the students union government and the management as they are doing all their very best to ensure that schools resume shortly.
Meanwhile, the president warned against some misinforming content of “some department having classes” on our various platforms in the school as this,is not want the Nigerian students need at this time. We must know that academic institutions cannot operate in a session or semester without clearly ,carefully arranged school circular/calendar from the academic board of an institution to spelt her operations within a specific period of time.
All concerned groups in paragraph 4, should treat this message with urgency as soon as possible.
